Lives and works in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland

Milli Jannides (b. 1986, Sydney) is an artist from Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Using literature as inspiration, her process-driven paintings consider how figurative language conjures images and how oil paint can trans- late ideas, moods or places to the canvas. Her paintings reference modernist traditions and shift restlessly in scale and imagery as they follow a winding path intersecting fiction, memory and imagination.

Jannides graduated with a conjoint degree in Fine Art and Literature from Waipapa Taumata Rau the University of Auckland in 2009, with an exchange to the Glasgow School of Art, Scotland in 2007. In 2010 she was a guest student in Peter Doig's class at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and she received a Masters in Painting from the Royal College of Art, London in 2013. She has been a resident at Oficina de Arte, Mexico City in 2014 and 2015.

Works by Jannides are held in public and private collections in Aotearoa and abroad.
Milli Jannides is a founding member of the Coastal Signs rōpū of artists.
