These pieces were produced on the occasion of Milli Jannides' exhibition Hothouse. The result of an ongoing dialogue between the artists, they act as feet for the paintings and utilitarian household objects. A Round Dish can be a vessel for foods, objects, or cigarette ash, the Halo and Crescent are designed as handles for cupboards and doors.
Andrew de Freitas graduated from Auckland’s Elam School of Fine Arts in 2009 and in 2016 completed a Meisterschüler with Simon Starling and Peter Fischli at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main. He runs a creative studio in Rio de Janeiro, Ateliê Arte de Obra, as an extension of his own practices and as a tool to generate space and remunerated work for other artisans. The atelier works across a variety of tools and processes implemented in architecture, interiors and furnishings, objects, art, hardware, lighting and scenography.
