Nayan Patel's work often explores the relationship between everyday objects and the body, with a particular focus on domestic and familiar items. Hydra is a satin bow set in clear acrylic with multiple, long, sweeping tails and loops that that are perpetually in motion. Magnetised, these bows can adorn any number of surfaces and walls around the home.
Nayan Patel (b. 1998 Kirikiriroa) is an artist from Aotearoa New Zealand of South Asian descent. He received his BFA(hons) from Elam School of Fine Arts in 2020 and is now living and working in London. Recent exhibitions include, Bowman's Mews, Final Hot Desert, London (2023), Downstairs, following drains, Paper Anniversary, Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland (2023) and Blowout (with Taylor Wagstaff), Envy, Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington (2022).
